Honeymoon in Khao Lak

5 keys to a successful honeymoon (and why you should honeymoon in Khao Lak)

There are a few choices in life that require serious consideration. Where to go to school, who to marry, what house or condo to buy. Another choice to carefully consider is where to go on honeymoon. The honeymoon is the inaugural trip for newlyweds, filled with romantic expectation. In many ways it is the foundation of what is to come. So you want your honeymoon to go as smoothly as possible. To help you achieve that, we have come up with what a poll of guests consider key to successful honeymoons.

Plan together

To make sure both of you enjoy the honeymoon, it is best to plan where you want to go, where you want to stay and what you want to do together. Taking factors such as weather, distance, local language, and foods into consideration will go a long way in ensuring both of your comforts.

Location

When people think of honeymoons they typically think of beautiful beaches. Absolutely! But not all beaches were created equal. We are fortunate in Thailand to have so many great beaches, including the long stretch of beach at Khao Lak, just north of Phuket. At just 90 minutes from the Phuket International Airport (HKT), the location is ideal for a honeymoon. Not crowded like so many of the Phuket beaches, including Patong, Kata and Karon, but with enough people so there is atmosphere.

The location should also be central to the activities you can enjoy together, such as snorkeling and diving. In Khao Lak we have the Similand and Surin Islands within easy reach, ideal for a honeymoon activity.

Privacy

A honeymoon requires alone time, where you can be cute together and tell each other sweet nothings in between taking selfies. Of course you do not want to be so secluded that you do not see anyone, but be in an ample enough space where you are not on sun loungers crammed next to each other. Your room should also offer sufficient privacy, it is your honeymoon after all.

Planning the hotel and upgrades in advance

Your honeymoon is probably the most appropriate holiday for pampering yourselves. A wedding lasts a few hours while a honeymoon lasts a few days, so it is probably best to splurge more on the honeymoon than the wedding. Tell the hotel you will be celebrating your honeymoon so they can assist you in preparing your room with wine or champagne and other treats, like we do here at MANATHAI Khao Lak for our honeymoon guests.

A light itinerary

The number one suggestion we received from honeymoon couples was to not plan too many things. A honeymoon is about rest, relaxation and spending quality time together. Planning too many activities will result in fatigue or foul moods, both definitely unwanted companions on a honeymoon.

We wish you all the best on your honeymoon and we do hope to be able to welcome you to MANATHAI Khao Lak. For wedding and honeymoon enquiries, please contact us at eam.khaolak@manathai.com.
