Regardless of experience levels, just about anyone can enjoy snorkeling—adults and children alike! The activity doesn’t require much equipment for participation. Moreover, it is relatively safe. It isn’t surprising then that snorkeling is one of the most popular activities that you could engage in while you’re visiting Khao Lak.

There are plenty of sites you can find in Khao Lak that offers an excellent snorkeling experience. However, the only way you’re going to maximize that experience is if you know what you’re doing when snorkeling.

In other words, we’re here to give you four top snorkeling tips to make the most out of snorkeling trip at Khao Lak.

1. Practice Makes Perfect

Regardless of which equipment you choose, you will always need to practice. If you plan to purchase your own set of snorkeling equipment, make sure to practice with them in a swimming pool or at the beach .

If you plan to rent equipment on vacation, try out the mask in shallow waters first to make sure that it fits well. If it doesn’t, get it replaced. Only once you’ve familiarized yourself with the use of the snorkeling equipment, can you truly enjoy the experience without any fears.

2. Don’t Forget the Fins

No one wants to get exhausted after just ten minutes of swimming in the sea struggling to move around. That’s where fins come in! Fins are excellent at helping you propel through the water with minimal effort. Not only do they allow you to get around much quicker and with ease, but they also make you look fantastic for photoshoots.

3. Put on a Vest

A vest is something most if not all snorkelers should wear. If you’re a professional snorkeler, you might be able to get away without wearing one. If you’re inexperienced, young, or aged, however, a vest will help you stay afloat. Thanks to the vest’s bright colors, you will be more easily identified.

4. Wear the Right Mask

There are two types of snorkeling masks: the full-face mask and the traditional mask. The full-face mask covers your whole face while allowing you to breathe through your mouth and nose. Because of this, a full-face mask is excellent for beginners and professionals alike.

As for the traditional mask, you will have to juggle two pieces: the mask and the tube. The mask covers your eyes and nose, allowing you to see into the ocean but removing the ability to breathe through the nose. The snorkel tube consists of a tube that is attached to the mouthpiece, allowing you to breathe through the mouth only. Because it takes practice to breathe only through the mouth, the traditional snorkeling mask is more suitable for experienced snorkelers. If you’re inexperienced, opt for the full-face mask. If you’re more experienced, however, either option is great!

By following the tips we’ve given you, you ensure that your snorkeling experience is as good as it gets. Now that you’re ready, it is time to get you along with your friends and family to Khao Lak. There is a treasure trove of wonders lying under the sea, just waiting for you to discover it. Good luck and happy snorkeling!
