The Benefits of Travelling Solo After a Breakup to Koh Samui

November 22, 2019

There will come a time when we find the love of our life—or so we think. We laugh, we cry. We share the best moments in our lives and the worst with one another. All of these can all point fingers at the fact that you’ve found the one true love.

Unfortunately, even the best of us has been torn down from cloud nine. Some of us have gone through the breakup, feeling hurt, lost, left with a hole to fill with zero clues on what to do next with life. If you’re one of them, we’re sorry. However, there’s one thing we can honestly recommend you do when that happens: travel the world!

Here are two great reasons you should take up traveling after a breakup:

1. You Learn How to be Single

You’ve just broken up, and now you’re left on your own. You might feel like you have no hope surviving all alone, but news flash, you can! We understand that this is all new to you and that traveling the world might be a little daunting. However, the moment you start traveling is the moment you start learning that you can lean on your strengths.

The most important aspect when traveling alone is that you’re all to your thoughts. You can sit down and laugh at the mistakes you’ve made in the past, and, for once, decide for yourself what kind of person will be compatible with you.

While you’re traveling, you’ll gain plenty of experience, and perhaps even stories, from other people going the same road as you. Not only do you open yourself up to brand new ideas, values, and morals, but it can cause you to sit down and think about what matters to you. As a result, you give yourself the chance to wait patiently for that “one” to show up and be yours once again.

2. It Changes your Perspective

When you break up, you often find yourself looking at things in one way (and usually a negative way). You feel like everything is wrong, and that the world should just disappear because everything is wrong.

You might be right; you might be wrong. However, you must try not to keep thinking that way. It’ll only deepen the wounds left in your soul. Pack your things. It is time to get out there, experience the world in many ways, and find a new perspective in life.

More often than not, you’ll start to see yourself as a small dot in the world, surrounded by something more significant. That could be the difference between being secluded at home, sulking all day, or accepting that your problems are temporary and small, that there is more to life than just a breakup.

There is no way around it. Breakups are terrible. No one should ever go through the ordeal, and no one ever deserves it to happen to them. But even if it happens to you, it isn’t the end of the world. Take this chance to travel alone. Take the journey as you wish, as the experience is yours to build. Just remember that your final goal is to remind yourself there is so much more to life than that one relationship. Believe that one day, someone else will find you, and who knows if that person is the one you’ll run into during your travels.
